Opera Is for Everyone!
The Santa Cruz Opera Project mission is to create accessible and entertaining productions that break the boundaries of traditional theatrical performance practice. Through fresh and unique interpretations of opera, we seek to reflect and enrich our community, connecting more people with opera and art music.
The idea for Santa Cruz Opera Project came from a 3 hour parking lot conversation following an audition. Two women laughed, cried, and bonded over a shared passion for music and art, their desire to create more opportunities for artists and to connect with their community.
Many people have never seen an opera! Perhaps they feel intimidated by it or cannot afford what are often high ticket prices. Santa Cruz Opera Project strives to create immersive experiences for their audiences, making music and theater come alive. While embracing untraditional tradition, we want you to know that Opera is for Everyone!
